On the way to a CAIR event in Tampa Bay from San Francisco International Airport, per 5Pillars, Sami Hamdi was detained by ICE and currently faces possible deportation to the U.K.
Sami’s forthright commentary and multiple appearances on various public platforms has been a boon for the Muslim community at large. His passionate pleas to speak up on worldwide oppression and genocide occuring in Palestine, Sudan, the Congo and elsewhere has facilitated
the awakening of many hearts to speak up against injustice.
Right-Wing Media Influence
Reports suggest that islamophobic provocations from right-wing media outlets and personalities over social media–including Laura Loomer and Amy Mek–may have led the DHS to pay closer attention to Sami in the last couple of days.
Tweets from Laura Loomer and Amy Mek celebrating what they claim as a victory, posted shortly after the breaking news.
Obviously this kind of rhetoric for the above-mentioned ‘personalities’ who lack a moral compass, would appear inflammatory and egregious.
Both Loomer and Mek hold a sizable online presence, boasting close to two million followers on X. Other than consistently posting prejudiced content, they have real sway in powerful circles. Mek’s RAIR Foundation, a hate-based media outlet, makes over a half-a-million in revenue each year, and Loomer has even personally met with Vice President JD Vance.
ICE Information
As per the fate of Sami, his info was publicly available a couple hours ago on the official ICE website if searched by his name and country of origin. However, as of this moment that method brings back zero results.
Other than the two right-wing conspirators mentioned above and their ilk obfuscating the truth, there is very little noise online around what appears to be an unjust detainment of Sami.
A Call to Action
So before you read this piece and simply move on to the next part of your feed, remember one thing. Sami Hamdi, like many others, has staked his public perception and life on the line by speaking up about oppression and openly daring to criticize governments that many of us would never have thought to do. Now that he faces detainment and arrest, the question we must ask ourselves is this.
What will our reaction be to this? What will we do now that he desperately needs our voices to be heard more than ever? Is this just another drop in the pond, or will it move you to act in the same way he did throughout this entire time?
